*Duquesne University's "Bluff Series" concerts continue in January.....please check the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne for more information. Dean David Allen Wehr continues his direction and performance at each one of these great concerts. See also Duquesne's list of jazz concerts, too!
* Manchester Craftsman's Series of jazz concerts (a beautiful recital hall!) will continue their jazz series this year....check out their website. And as a sponsor, BNY presents free concerts every Tuesday in the Lounge at the Greer Cabaret, 655 Penn Ave. 15222 from 5-7pm. Check out #jazzlivepgh for a listing.
*Our Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra continues the season with some terrific concerts, especially those concerts featuring pianists! On Feb. 21-23 Emanuel Ax plays the 25th Concerto by Mozart, Krill Gerstein plays Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 on April 11-13, Vikingur Olafsson plays the Brahms 2nd Piano Concerto on April 25-27, Yefim Bronfman plays the Emperor Concerto by Beethoven on May 16-18,Alice Sara Ott is here on June 7th (repertoire to be announced), and finally, Beatrice Rana plays the Mendelssohn 1st Piano concerto on June 13-15. As students of music, there is no greater inspiration to practice and find beauty through music in our lives than to hear others perform. I cannot encourage you enough to attend at least one classical music event in the upcoming months.
