It begins with only the piano, then becomes theme after theme in dialogue between piano and orchestra, pulling you along emotionally until you can barely breathe......and that's only the first movement! From the first chords redolent of Rachmaninov's beloved church bells to the last notes of the final movement, this concerto has been a joy for me to listen to since I first heard
