I enjoyed reading this tribute to Gary Graffman in the New York Times this morning; thinking perhaps you may, as well! Gary Graffman has been in my thoughts lately, since hearing a wonderful recital program played by Daniel Hsu on Sunday (presented by the Steinway Society of Western PA). I had heard Daniel perform before as I watched the most recent live broadcast of the 2017 Van Cleburne competition where Daniel was a competitor (he won Bronze). Daniel has attended Curtis Institute and has studied with Gary Graffman, whose playing I have enjoyed many times (as well as having fun reading his 1981 book, I Really Should Be Practicing) Kind of amazing how many inspirational pianists and piano teachers live well into their nineties, isn't it ?!
