Working on a Schubert Impromptu (op. 142 no. 3) that I have never learned......I have been listening to other performers and have been especially interested in a performance on youtube by the pianist Valentina Lisitsa. Watch for yourself and see if you like this performance as much as I do.......
I was driving somewhere yesterday and happened to hear a work by Liszt that I hadn't heard in a while, and found myself thinking how extraordinary the piece is......it is the Ballade No. 2, written I believe, shortly after he completed the Sonata. There is a wonderful performance of the Ballade by Claudio Arrau you can listen to. What do you think of the chords you first hear around 1:00 in on this recording? Pure chills! Some people, like pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi, believe that this sonata was inspired by the story of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Whatever the inspiration for the piece may have been, it is a beautiful listen.......see what you think!
