I cannot tell you how many time I listened to a recording I owned of Leon Fleisher playing the Brahms First Piano Concerto with George Szell and the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra......countless. I spent a good bit of time this morning reading different peoples' thoughts and words about him: from NPR, from The Slipped Disc, an older article by Alex Ross in The New Yorker, and also watched on youtube a masterclass given five years ago at the Music Academy of the West, among others. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with Leon Fleisher's playing, if you don't know it (although he suffered greatly from Focal Dystonia for many years and, horribly enough, lost the use of his right hand). Great artists live on through the memories we have and share.....pass it on.
