If I've said it once, I've said it....... Music dictionaries will define music in a very stripped-down, basic way, saying that music consists of melody and rhythm. Not meaning to be over-simplistic, but rhythm is obviously an important component, and from the very first lessons at the piano, students must learn to count correctly. Adam Code, in a recent article in Clavier Companion, reviews the importance of correct counting, and shares some tools. Thought you all might appreciate reading, so I have posted on my bulletin board outside my studio.
