*Practice slowly, at least 40% under "performance" tempo will help tremendously in getting a clean execution of the piece. A good basic rule is: when you practice at half tempo, focus on playing very musically and very well phrased and articulated. This will help you understand and feel the music better, and will have significant effect in learning the piece by heart.
*When you keep making the same mistake during a run (or jump or other technical challenge), focus on the note or group of notes prior to the mistake. Mistakes are often the consequence of bad preparation. Plan ahead!
